The opinions expressed do not necessarily represent those of the McDaniel Free Press staff, or the faculty and administrators of McDaniel College.

The paper welcomes freelance submissions via email to freepress@mcdaniel.edu. The editors reserve the right to edit for clarity and libel, and to publish submissions as space permits. Please include a name and phone number for verification. Names will be withheld only by the discretion of the Editor-In-Chief.

The McDaniel Free Press does not discriminate based on age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, condition of handicap, or marital status.

The contents of the McDaniel Free Press online are copyright 2007, 2008, where applicable. Any defamatory, libelous, or slanderous comments or postings will not be tolerated, and will result in the removal of your access to the site.

The opinions of the Free Press Bloggers do not necessarily represent the opinion of the Free Press, or of McDaniel College as a whole. The content found therein is considered intellectual property of the author, but is nevertheless under the jurisdiction of the owner and operator of the domain, The McDaniel Free Press staff. Said content is routinely held in editorial oversight before publication.

This website was developed by Mike Habegger (Political Science Major, Co-Editor in Chief, 2006-2008), McDaniel class of 2008, in January of 2008, under the supervision of the McDaniel College English department and faculty adviser to the Free Press, Ms. Lisa Breslin. The goal of the site is to provide an online meeting place for the McDaniel College community to discuss the happenings at McDaniel College, with the ability to reference the most credible source of information on the campus, The McDaniel Free Press. The Free Press enjoys status independent of the institution–from the college itself, the SGA, the English Department, and Academic Affairs. Any issues regarding the content of the publication, or its conduct, should be addressed to the Free Press staff Editors-In-Chief, or the faculty adviser.

The Free Press online offers opportunities for unique and additional content to that published bi-weekly and distributed to the campus community. That being said, the paper strives first and foremost to be a reliable source of information, and will not be in the position of being a mouthpiece for the various organs of the McDaniel College Administration, whether it be the President’s Office, the Athletic Director’s Office, Academic Affairs, or Student Affairs. Organizations wishing to suggest story ideas or post announcements on the Free Press website, or in the Free Press publication, must contact the Editors-in-Chief via freepress@mcdaniel.edu. Such submissions must be made with the acknowledgement that the Free Press staff reserves the right to not publish material deemed unacceptable to the paper’s historical precedent. Free Lance submissions, made in the narrative form, are more likely to be looked highly upon, as they should reflect the highest standards of journalism.

Lastly, the McDaniel Free Press, especially in its webform, strives to move the McDaniel College Community into a more open, freely democratic discourse. Participation on this website is highly encouraged, and frequent commentors, posters, and journalists should constantly seek to promote it as a valuable, necessary component of the McDaniel liberal arts experience.

The future of journalism has arrived at McDaniel.
