The recruitment event was a simple meet and greet between fraternity members and potential rushers. Between 10 to 12 members attended, and the event ran from 8 to 10 p.m. Calvin Benevento, a potential rusher said, “The brotherhood is mainly what attracted me, being a part of a group of people who have similar interests, and a good way to make connections, and always having friends to hang out with.”
Dominic Seelig, Phi Delta Theta’s head of recruitment for the semester, said he will be giving a Greek presentation later this semester to educate first year students about Greek life.
“This has not been done before to my knowledge, and along with informing the students of how fraternities work across the country and here at McDaniel, I will dedicate half of the slideshow to our chapter of Phi Delta Theta here at school.”
According to Seelig, “a typical recruiting event draws about 10 to 20 people, and roughly 75 percent of those end up rushing, or in other words have interest in becoming members.”
Any freshmen that have interests in Phi Delta Theta or Greek life in general should have attended the presentation in Rouzer Hall, which took place February 12.
