McDaniel’s softball team are champions of the Centennial Conference after defeating Washington College 9-0 in six innings to win the Conference’s tournament.
Senior left-fielder Jordan Beans led the way for the Terror, getting three hits including a double and a home run in four at-bats, driving in five runs and scoring twice. Sophomore center-fielder Rachel Sidney also recorded three of McDaniel’s 14 hits and scored three runs.
Freshman pitcher Caroline Brehm hurled a complete-game shutout, scattering four hits and two walks over six innings while striking out eight batters.
This is McDaniel softball’s first conference title since 2004. The trophy was presented by College President Roger Casey and Assistant Athletic Director Becky Martin to the team’s three seniors, Beans, Lauren Fusco, and Erinne Warrenfeltz, and graduate student Beth Ann Fusco.
The Terror now advance to the regional phase of the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament. Times and locations for the regionals will be announced Monday morning at 10:00 a.m.
