Need a late night energy boost to finish that paper? The Budapest Café has extended their hours until midnight Monday through Saturday.
The café used to close at 8 p.m. on weekdays and not operate at all on weekends. Now, after a change initiated by President Casey, the café hours are from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, and from 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays.
President Roger Casey said that the decision to change the Budapest Café hours came about from “a meeting with resident assistants and peer mentors; they made the suggestion, and I took it to the relevant authorities, who made it happen.”
“Thoughtful students thought it important to do. When they think so, I tend to agree,” Casey added about extending the hours.
Glenda Shipley, an employee at the Budapest Café, said she thinks it’s a good idea to have it open later, because it gives students somewhere to go at night for coffee and smoothies, which is especially nice during exams.
Casey said that he hopes students will get “greater satisfaction with campus services and more options” out of the longer operation hours.
Many students are happy with the new extended hours. Senior Julia Williams says, “It’s extremely convenient for late night studying. It also means I can get smoothies anytime I want, which is fantastic.”
So if you need a caffeine pick me up, or an alternative late-night study area, head on over to the Budapest Café.
