Even if you are not great at golf, McDaniel’s golf course can be a great place to simply take in the surroundings and its location on a hill offers great views of the surrounding landscape in many areas.
With the weather finally getting warmer McDaniel students are beginning to spend time outside around campus. There are a variety of places for students to enjoy the spring; some are more private, while others are great ways to socialize with friends.
Even the non-human inhabitants of McDaniel are out and about. Here, a squirrel enjoys the end of winter and beginning of spring, a time when many plants return.
Located between the sports fields and golf course, Harvey Stone Park hosts many departmental and organizational events. However, the pavilion located within the park usually offers a private place to relax out of the sun and enjoy nature.
There are trails that travel around McDaniel’s fields, which provide a great place for a run, or even a simple walk where one can take a study break and get some fresh air and sun.
With warmer weather, many plants are beginning to grow and beautify the campus.
There are also signs of trees emerging from their dormant states, such as this one next to Gill Gymnasium.
Earlier this week, the Quad was a place where many students laid out in the sun, played games, socialized, and simply relaxed.
Perhaps the go-to outdoor place to hang out, Red Square was filled with students for one of the first times of the season earlier this week.
Another common place to spend time in the shade outdoors, the gazebo, was where several students spent time earlier this week. As the weather continuously gets nicer, such gatherings will increase in frequency along with the liveliness of the campus.
There are also places for the non-outdoorsy types on campus, such as the area in the back of the first floor in the library. With this elevation and comfy chairs, one can simply relax in the air-conditioned library and enjoy the great view that this area provides.
