Now that everyone is back on the Hill for the fall semester, it’s time for Welcome Week. Sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement, Welcome Week activities are a chance for McDaniel students to have some fun, pick up some free stuff, and say hello to various departments on campus.

Sunday Aug. 24
Go to Glar anytime from 5 to 7 p.m. for your chance to win gift cards and prizes in the annual Bingo for Books.
Monday Aug. 25
Spruce up your new dorm room by shopping the Poster Sale, located in the Forum in Decker Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Say hello to McDaniel’s Student Academic Support Services office and enjoy a frozen treat of your creation by stopping by the SASS Ice Cream Sundae Bar outside of Glar from noon to 1 p.m.
Learn about what McDaniel’s Center for Experience and Opportunity has to offer and pick up a fortune cookie. The CEO Fortune Teller event will be stationed in Kriel Lounge in Decker Center from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Stop by the Residence Life Open House in Ensor Lounge from 3 to 5 p.m.
Spend the evening testing your knowledge of trivia at the McDaniel Pub Trivia event in the Student Recreation Lounge from 7 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday Aug. 26
Didn’t get a chance to go to the Poster Sale on Monday? Don’t fret! The Poster Sale continues in the Forum from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Lots of open houses await you today. The Department of Campus Safety Open House is in Winslow Hall from noon to 2 p.m. After that, stop by the Office of Multicultural Affairs (outside of Glar) from 2 to 4 p.m. for the ODMA Open House. And if you’re interested in studying abroad, go to Hill Hall to learn more at the Global Initiatives and Study Abroad Open House from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Start of the semester feeling fit by going to the Zumba Party in Gill Gym from 7 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday Aug. 27
Learn more about academic resources on the Hill by visiting The First Stop Open House on the second floor of Hoover Library from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Meet some McDaniel peer writing tutors by playing Life-Size Bananagrams with the Writing Center in Red Square from 4 to 5 p.m.
Get involved! Attend the Involvement Fair in Red Square and the Quad from 5 to 7 p.m. to eat dinner and learn more about what McDaniel’s student organizations have to offer.
Thursday Aug. 28
Need a job? The Part Time Job Fair in the Forum from 4 to 6 p.m. is the place to be to learn about local job opportunities.
New to Welcome Week this year is the GTP Color Party in Red Square from 4 to 7 p.m., presented by Green Terror Productions.
Like volleyball? Play in the Grass Volleyball Tournament on the lawn by Gill from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Enjoy free food and kick off another year of video games and pool by dropping by going to Thursday Night Nachos in the Rec. Lounge from 8 to 11 p.m.
Friday Aug. 29
Are you a senior? Your time for free hot dogs has arrived! Attend Wieners for Seniors in Red Square from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Safely learn what it’s like to drive under the influence by taking SIDNE (Impaired Driving Simulator) for a spin in the Stadium Parking Lot from to 3 p.m.
If you liked Wednesday’s GTP Color Party and want to be involved with planning more fun events for McDaniel students, go to the GTP Kick Off Meeting in the Leidy Room (Englar 101) at 2:30 p.m.
Did you learn to love soccer this summer? Catch the first of two men’s soccer matches this week. Men’s Soccer vs. Saint Joseph’s College Long Island kicks off at 4 p.m. If field hockey is more your thing, watch Women’s Field Hockey vs. Frostburg State University at 6 p.m.
Show your Green Terror spirit at the Pep Rally in Gill Gym from 7 to 9 p.m.
Celebrate a successful first week back on campus. Bring your picnic blankets and friends to the Outdoor Movie, featuring The Amazing Spiderman II, in Red Square at 9 p.m.
